Recently, with the announcements that vick (i refuse to capitalize his name) won the BET/Subway Sportsman of the Year award and was signed to a Nike endorsement contract, animal advocates/fans have announced boycotts of BET, Nike and Subway.
I understand why people do it, heck, I am participating myself, but here's the thing - The only time I watch BET is when Juice is being rerun, I really don't care what sneakers I buy, and I eat (errr, ate) at Subway maybe twice a month, and quite frankly, never crave it - I can just as easily go to Blimpie's/Quiznos/Whereever. Point being, I'm not really sacrificing much, and, not really hurting the corporations who are on team vick by boycotting them (don't get me started on how useless writing e-mails/calling them is).
Now, if we dig a little deeper into it, Nike owns Converse, Cole Haan, and Umbro - How many knew that and are boycotting those too?
Still with me?
What about the Philadelphia Eagles' corporate sponsors? Are you boycotting Pepsi (which also owns Gatorade/Tropicana/Lays/Quaker/Aquafina/etc), Budweiser, US Airways, Miller Lite, Verizon?
I also hear that Coke may sign him to a deal. Will you boycott Pepsi and Coke?
Not as easy, huh?
Slightly tangential, what about the fact that President Obama (in a cowardly move, in my opinion) congratulated the Eagles owner (after vick already was already in the league for two years) for taking a chance on him. Do you now not vote for him? What is he's running against (gasp!) Sarah Palin, someone who not only hunts, but brags about it?
And finally, what if you have a good friend, not really an animal lover, but certainly not an animal hater - What if this person is a big Philadelphia Eagles, or Nike fan? You tell them about the boycott, and they tell you that while they understand why you are doing it, they fell along the (ridiculous) lines of Nike (i.e. They dont care). How does that affect your relationship?
Me? I will do my best to boycott all associated products. In fact, I will use it as an opportunity to improve my health. For example, I drink a soda or two a day. I will stop drinking Pepsi (and Pepsi subsidiaries) now, and if Coke follows through and endorses him, I will give up soda.
I know Dunkin Donuts used to be an Eagles sponsor. They haven't responded to my email. Can anyone verify whether they are or not? I go to Dunkin at least once a day, some days up to four times (I have a day job/comedy job/writing/animal rescue/two dogs/six month old baby - 'nuff said)...I will definitely give that up if they are still sponsoring Eagles games. That will be sacrifice!
Rock On,
Harris

Michael Vick: Presidents Praise? Huh?!?
Good morning, everyone.
I have good news....its going to get warmer. Seriously...its going to be in the 40's in the next few days. Goodbye snow, you bastard.
Sorry...had to get that off my chest. I like to get my emotions out. Speaking of expressing emotion...I have a video for you to watch. It involves our President, Mr. Obama, and some things said about Michael Vick.
Bernadette Pauley will be on our next comedy fundraiser (January 18th @ Gotham Comedy club in NYC)! Watch her here argue on fox news about whether obama was right about commending the eagles about vick. CLICK HERE TO VIEW VIDEO.
What are your thoughts on what was discussed? We'd love to know.
Also, try to make our upcoming Stewie get together coming up on January 6th. For details, CLICK HERE.

Obama and the Eagles (not a new folk band name)
Morning all.
I have an up to date weather report for you. It's cold. There's a lot of snow on the ground. Its not going anywhere. There you go.
Seriously though, Harris (founder of Stewie to the Rescue), posted this article on our Facebook page, but in case you missed it, I thought I should put up a link for you.
Its involves our president, Mr. Obama, and a certain call he placed to the Eagles. You can view it HERE.
What are you thoughts on this? We'd love to know.

"F - YOU", Michael Vick!!!!
So, here anything interesting in the news lately? Anything that really caught your ear? Um...well we have.
Heard of a guy named Michael Vick? Football player. Guilty of viciously torturing dogs and abusing them and making their lives hell on earth?
Ring a bell?
If all of that, him getting off of the charges essentially, and him getting reinstated so he can resume making millions of dollars playing football doesn't piss you off enough....CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO.
Okay? Are you sufficiently pissed now?
I am. I can't see how you couldn't be.
That smug, piece of s*&t just sits there and with a straight face says that he'd love to have a dog again? Are you serious?!? Really?!?
It's like Jaws being forced to undertake therapy then requests a human swimming buddy to help him get through his rehabilitation.
Immediately after viewing the interview I thought that the boundaries of reality had snapped and time and space had crumbled apart, but then the true horror was, it didn't. This was real. Unbelievable!!
I know its the holidays and all, but am I wrong in hoping something really bad happens to you, Michael Vick? Something really...really bad.
Happy Holidays, everyone, and F - YOU, Michael Vick!!!

Michael Vick is not welcome in many places, especially E-Street
Good morning and a very happy Monday to all our friends and readers. Hope you had a fantastic weekend and are enjoying the holiday season thus far.
This morning's blog is going to seem somewhat repetitive in nature, but I (Carl) haven't really tackled the subject that fully or really given my opinion on it in absolute terms, so, cut me a drop of slack, okay guys? lol.
I'm an avid Howard Stern listener. Some love him, some hate him. That's all good. This is America and we're given the ability to choose. God bless it.
Anyhow, as I said, I'm a big fan (and very happy he signed an extended 5 year deal with Sirius) and was listening to the other day as he was speaking about an article written by musician Nils Lofgren from the E-Street band (the guys who back Bruce Springsteen) regarding Michael Vick.
Howard has stated numerous times he's against Michael Vick and started reading Nils' article on the air. It caught me as pretty interesting and I thought I'd dig it up for you folks to read and give your opinions about.
You can check out the article RIGHT HERE. I'd love to get your feedback and opinions on what he said and any further thoughts on the topic.
Speaking for myself (Carl), I think Michael Vick is a piece of s*&t and should be rotting away in a jail cell somewhere. The guy, despite whatever nonsense excuses somewhat might dig up about him regarding his background, knew what he was doing and because of his "Celebrity" status and football skills has been given a pass. Its bulls*&t, plain and simple. If he was a mediocre player he'd be in jail and nothing but an afterthought.
That's my two cents. What's yours?

America's Most Hated....
I have something to admit. This something can be construed as somewhat shameful, but I feel in writing this blog, I need to be honest....I like professional wrestling.
There...I came out and said it. I've watched it since I was a kid, and still check it out from time to time as an adult. This is my guilty pleasure and now my public shame.
If you've ever watched pro-wrestling, you'll come to find that there are the heroes (good guys) and the villains a.k.a. the heels.
The heels' job is to get the people in the audience to hate them. They say horrible things. They commit horrible acts. They essentially make the heroes lives a living hell.
They do all this with the hope that people will hate them. They want to hear the "boo's" and rants. They revel in it.
Of course, most people (including myself) realize that pro-wrestling is mapped out and predetermined. They know what they are doing.
In the game of life (meaning reality) the ultimate heel we have as animal lover's is Athlete turned animal abuser and defiler, Michael Vick. He didn't do what he did because he was trying to be hated, he did what he did because he's a disgusting human being and in truth, really didn't want anyone else to know what he was wrapped up in.
The difference between Michael Vick and the world of pro-wrestling is that Michael Vick is genuinely hated. Its not his "character", but him himself. The heinous acts he's committed, the atrocities he's managed to get away with, he is nauseating and I'm not the only one who thinks so.
Forbes' list gives him the dubious honor of being the most hated athlete (to view article, go to: http://www.ajc.com/sports/michael-vick-tops-forbes-554412.html) and if you do any kind of search for him online, you'll likely see an abundance of disdain. It is unavoidable, but very deserved. VERY deserved.
As I put together this blog, I did some exploring online. In doing so, I happened upon an interesting article featuring a focus on Michael Vick and the author's faith in terms of forgiveness. I found it very interesting and think you might too. Check it out here: http://onfaith.washingtonpost.com/onfaith/guestvoices/2010/11/forgiving_michael_vick.html
I'd be curious to hear what you thought about the article, so feel free to put up some posts about it. We love feedback.
Until next time....

They DESERVE a second chance....
Of course everyone knows about Michael Vick and the atrocities he committed in regard to his pits, but what about the dogs now? Where are they? How are they doing?
Well, remarkably, instead of being put down, they are in the process of being rehabilitated. This is a great thing. They've been given a second chance that they truly deserve because they were a victim of circumstance and horrid, disgusting, blatant abuse.
It wasn't their fault!
What's frustrating is that the person who put them through so much turmoil, who callously abused and manipulated them, is off collecting a big salary...doing his best to sweep his marred, tattered, and criminal past under the carpet.
Disgusting.
To get a little more insight as to what's happenings with the dogs, visit: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/09/20/earlyshow/contributors/debbyeturner/main6884094.shtml
The bottom line? Treat your animals right and don't feel bad hoping that Michael Vick takes a serious beating on the Football field.
On a related note, for more on fellow dog lovers who aren't okay with letting that piece of crap (aka Michael Vick) off the hook, check out this article: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=%2Fg%2Fa%2F2009%2F11%2F03%2Fpetscol110309.DTL
