What do you think?  Sounds good, right?  Well... over 15,000 men found themselves talking to the Atlanta Humane Society about an 8-week old black Labrador retriever dog.  (Derived from The Atlanta Daily).

I think its a great, effective piece and if it gets results and doesn't hurt anyone, why not?  Its the power of properly focused advertising/marketing.

Speaking of focusing...we are once again having a big comedy event coming up Tuesday, January 18th at Gotham Comedy Club in NYC.  The show starts at 8pm and goes until 10pm.  There are going to be phenomenal comedians, spirited drinks, and great raffles.  Best of all, it raises funds to help us in our mission to help needy animals and their owners.

Its About Poop....

Good morning and happy Sunday to you.  Hope all is well with you guys and that you've enjoyed your weekend thus far.  I have.

There are times in life when the absurd really is something that must be embraced.  If you're like me, you tire of the generic happenings of everyday life and need a dose of stupid every now and then.  Well...you've come to the right place.

I found THIS STORY online (its a been dated...few years back, but just go along with it) and it instantly appealed to me.  Now you can condemn me of being juvenile, but I will rebut by saying it incorporates science and concern for the environment.  Furthermore, it focuses upon practices of another culture....so there.  It's about poop.  Check it out!

The Fri Guy...

I love Fridays.  Fridays are like being next in line...tons of anticipation, unrealized opportunity, and then ultimately, its all you and you get your reward.  Ahhh...Fridays....better not snow that much.

So, sometimes my mind gets to wondering.  Often that gets me into trouble, but sometimes interesting things come from it.  I was thinking about celebrities and how often they claim to be big animal lovers and all that, so I just became curious as to which celebrity owned what and such...and did some googling.

 I found a site that laid out the name of the dog, the breed, and the celebrity it belonged to.  Thought there was some interesting entries and thought you guys might find it interesting, too.  (Note* - Jessica Alba is pictured above...as I find her hot.  Thank You.)

This One's For The Fellas....

Good morning and good Thursday to all.

Now, some of you might be able to relate to this blog, others not so much, but I figured, lets go ahead.

Dating.  Dating as a guy.  Some guys are very apt at picking up women.  Others guys are not so apt.  For these guys who are light in the "apt" department there are some resources that can be used to help them better connect with women.

There are tons of online dating sites, speed dating events, professional matchmakers and more.  Levels of success for each individual may vary somewhat, but even so, these are popular options.

Now, I bet you're wondering when this blog is going to get somewhat animal oriented, right?  Well...here it comes.  I happened upon this article that involves and advises dog owning men on the best way to interact women at dog parks and I thought it was somewhat interesting.  Would I do it?  Not so sure about that...but hey, why not give it a read?

New Hope and Congratulations....

Good morning, everyone.  It's a beautiful day out, full of possibilities.  Let's get out there and seize it.

I'm not sure if I'm going to get in trouble for this(Harris, just pull the blog if this irks you), but first and foremost, I want to congratulate Stewie to the Rescue's founder Harris Bloom and his lovely wife Josie on the birth of their child, Zadie Reese Bloom.

I don't want to post any pictures or anything, as I don't want to impose upon the couple's privacy, but take my word, it's a great looking kid.  Congratulations again, you guys, we're all very happy for you.

On to dog business...

Our mission is still ongoing.  We've got lots to do in the coming days and let's take this day to move forward. Nothing better than a positive happening to inspire action and that's what we're going to do...and you can help.

We've got a great event coming up Thursday and hope to see you there.  We also have a big comedy fundraiser coming up, so if you like to laugh and want to make a difference for a needy animal...be there or be square.

A Look Back, and Ahead...

I started Stewie to the Rescue (STTR) right smack in the middle of 2010, as we actually got our Certificate of Incorporation on June 30th.

We had a great first six months, having raised close to $4,000, especially considering our first fundraiser wasn't until August 19th (at 11th Street Bar).

I'd like to thank all of you who either attended an event or donated (and especially those who did both!).

Thanks to your donations (or event attending), you helped a few dogs (like Frankie and Buddy) get training so they can be adopted. You helped pay for surgery for a couple of dogs, who would've died otherwise (many low-income people surrender their dogs to the shelter when they cant afford surgery...and the shelter then kills them as they have enough healthy dogs they can't even re-home).

Not only did you help dogs, but you helped people, whether it be the owners who couldn't afford the surgery for their best friend, or the future adopters of the now-trained dogs.

2011 is gonna be a huge year for us. We will have more and different types of fundraisers (Like our event at Fiddlesticks Bar on Jan 6th - Thanks Erin!).

We will help more people keep their pets and we will help more rescues with their financial emergencies. We hope to raise a lot more as word of our mission spreads (we have a PR person now to help - Thanks Carl!). We hope you will be part of that too, by continuing to support us financially and by telling your friends. Please, have them join our mailing list on our home page at www.stewietotherescue.org -

Moody dogs?

Morning.  I have good news and I have bad news.  The good news is the dastardly snow is almost gone.  The bad news is its freezing again.  We can't win, can we?

I don't know about you guys, but I'm very much susceptible to moodiness when seasons change.  Generally, I'm somewhat sarcastic, but with the influx of winter, I'm also low energy with an occasional case of the "crankies" (yes, that is the clinical term...ha).  I'm definitely much more of a summer person, as I think a lot of people are.  Besides the weather, there are other factors that influence mood.  One example is diet/nutrition and believe it or not, this can also affect your dog's mood, too.

In closing, some people's moods are beyond our control, but our dogs' are something we can manage, so get on top of that, kids.

A Call to Arms....

Am I really up at 9 a.m. on Sunday?  What?!?  Its probably because I slept the majority of Saturday after a fun New Year's Eve.  Well anyway, good morning, fine readers.

Every morning I try to deliver the best in terms of this blog and sometimes everything flows amazingly and other times my fuzzy, under caffeinated brain struggles.  Today, I'm kind of in the middle, but I do have something simple to bring forth.

I know I've mentioned how much our supporters mean to us.  You do.  Incredibly important.  Without you, there is no us.  Its that simple.

That being said, I thought about reaching out to people who have "In's" with certain businesses, service companies, etc, and wanted to illuminate another way you can help us in our mission....by sponsoring our events or donating products/services to our raffles.

2011 - Let's do this!

Good morning.  Yes, I know it's afternoon, but not to all of us.  Hope everyone had a fantastic night last night, whatever the case.

Generally, I haven't been a fan of New Year's Eve or day, but for whatever reason, I'm kind of seeing the positives lately.  Despite whatever crap we've been through this past year, we've always managed to dust ourselves off and get back up.  We took the good and the bad and kept on truckin'. 

The way I see it...2011 is ripe with opportunity.  Its ripe with great successes waiting to be plucked from the vine and I for one, am going to do whatever I can to take part in this harvest.  In truth, we all can.

Let's kick the negative sh*t to the side for a change and focus on doing the right stuff and getting things done.  We at Stewie to the Rescue, are looking to make more of an impact this year.  We've been helping, but we want to do more.  We want to save more animal's lives, we want to help more owners in need, we want to make more of a difference.

In any mission, you're only as good as the resources around you.  Resources can be tangible or intangible, but they are necessary.  Our greatest resource are the people who are sympathetic to what we're trying to do...you...the reader.  YOU are the ones who can help us put for checks in the "Win Column" then in the "Loss Column." 

We want to thank of all of you who have supported us this past year and with the risk of sounding somewhat unsatisfied, we still ask you to continue your support.  We ask you to tell a friend.  Tell them to tell a friend.  Let them know what we're trying to do and ask them to help, too.  Together we can take 2011 to a new level and make an impact together.
