Supper Bowl

That's right.  I did it.  I purposely alluded to supper as to super.  Want to fight about it?

I know today is Super Bowl Sunday and there's tons of people gearing up for a big day of watching football, eating, and probably passing gas.  This is inevitable...the spices in buffalo sauce practically guarantee this...but I digress.

Though today is a day for fun, don't forget your dog.  Get your butt up and walk him during lulls (yeah, like you'll do that) or take him out during half time.  Also, don't let him get too caught up in the festivities.  Meaning...don't let him chow down like you are.

THIS ARTICLE gives you some insights as to what snacks (given in moderation and sparingly) would be okay for your dog to enjoy with you.  What ever you do, don't feed your dog a six foot hoagie.  Send that my way.

So...as the day moves forward, gear up, and enjoy.  Have fun and root for your favorite teams and be entertained.  Speaking of entertainment....

Go Jets???

Evening and a very happy Sunday, folks.  I know generally we do the blog thing early in the morning, but its Sunday and anything can happen...so look at that...it has.  Evening blog!  Alright!!!

Anyhow, most peeps I know are gearing up and hoping for the Jets to win it tonight.  I'm not a football fan, so I'm listening to music and apparently putting together this blog....so I have that going for me, I guess.

I saw my nephew today.  He's about 7 months old and isn't crying anymore when he sees me as I've just done away with my goatee, so that's a good thing.  My sister has a big Golden Lab and my mom often visits and brings Buddy the poodle to visit and all is well.

The dogs are really great with the baby and I'm really glad for that.  I've heard stories of dogs having trouble accepting a new head in the house so I rambled online and found THIS ARTICLE that gives you an overview of the dog / new baby dynamic.  Its worth a read, so give it a look.

Anyhow, it's time to go.  I wish you Jets fans luck.

"F - YOU", Michael Vick!!!!

So, here anything interesting in the news lately?  Anything that really caught your ear?  Um...well we have.

Heard of a guy named Michael Vick?  Football player.  Guilty of viciously torturing dogs and abusing them and making their lives hell on earth?

Ring a bell?

If all of that, him getting off of the charges essentially, and him getting reinstated so he can resume making millions of dollars playing football doesn't piss you off enough....CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO.

Okay?  Are you sufficiently pissed now?

I am.  I can't see how you couldn't be.

That smug, piece of s*&t just sits there and with a straight face says that he'd love to have a dog again?  Are you serious?!?  Really?!?

It's like Jaws being forced to undertake therapy then requests a human swimming buddy to help him get through his rehabilitation.

Immediately after viewing the interview I thought that the boundaries of reality had snapped and time and space had crumbled apart, but then the true horror was, it didn't.  This was real.  Unbelievable!!

I know its the holidays and all, but am I wrong in hoping something really bad happens to you, Michael Vick?  Something really...really bad.

Happy Holidays, everyone, and F - YOU, Michael Vick!!!

Michael Vick is not welcome in many places, especially E-Street

Good morning and a very happy Monday to all our friends and readers.  Hope you had a fantastic weekend and are enjoying the holiday season thus far.

This morning's blog is going to seem somewhat repetitive in nature, but I (Carl) haven't really tackled the subject that fully or really given my opinion on it in absolute terms, so, cut me a drop of slack, okay guys? lol.

I'm an avid Howard Stern listener.  Some love him, some hate him.  That's all good.  This is America and we're given the ability to choose.  God bless it.

Anyhow, as I said, I'm a big fan (and very happy he signed an extended 5 year deal with Sirius) and was listening to the other day as he was speaking about an article written by musician Nils Lofgren from the E-Street band (the guys who back Bruce Springsteen) regarding Michael Vick.

Howard has stated numerous times he's against Michael Vick and started reading Nils' article on the air.  It caught me as pretty interesting and I thought I'd dig it up for you folks to read and give your opinions about.

You can check out the article RIGHT HERE.  I'd love to get your feedback and opinions on what he said and any further thoughts on the topic.

Speaking for myself (Carl), I think Michael Vick is a piece of s*&t and should be rotting away in a jail cell somewhere.  The guy, despite whatever nonsense excuses somewhat might dig up about him regarding his background, knew what he was doing and because of his "Celebrity" status and football skills has been given a pass.  Its bulls*&t, plain and simple.  If he was a mediocre player he'd be in jail and nothing but an afterthought.

That's my two cents.  What's yours?

Happy Thanksgiving!

So...we've made it.  Its another year.  Another November.  Another Thanksgiving.

Now, I know when you think Thanksgiving, you think turkey, stuffing, family gatherings, and football (especially this year...some really interesting match-ups happening).

These are all positive and delicious things, but in embracing them, we should try to reflect upon the other reasons why we're thankful.

We should count our blessings.  We should relish in the amazing families, friends, and pets in our lives.  The ones that are always there, that we might overlook and under appreciate.  We should give Thanks and appreciate what we have and hold them close to us.

As we roll up our sleeves, pull up our chairs, and prepare to chow down, we should also keep some things in mind in regard to our pets.  Though, we're prepared to pig out, our dogs shouldn't be joining us.

Here's an article you should check out regarding the do's and don'ts relating to your dogs and holiday meals.  Give it a look: http://www.doghobbyist.com/articles/DogHobbyist/Thanksgiving.html

Have a great Thanksgiving!!!!

They DESERVE a second chance....

Of course everyone knows about Michael Vick and the atrocities he committed in regard to his pits, but what about the dogs now?  Where are they?  How are they doing?

Well, remarkably, instead of being put down, they are in the process of being rehabilitated.  This is a great thing.  They've been given a second chance that they truly deserve because they were a victim of circumstance and horrid, disgusting, blatant abuse.

It wasn't their fault!

What's frustrating is that the person who put them through so much turmoil, who callously abused and manipulated them, is off collecting a big salary...doing his best to sweep his marred, tattered, and criminal past under the carpet.

Disgusting.

To get a little more insight as to what's happenings with the dogs, visit: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/09/20/earlyshow/contributors/debbyeturner/main6884094.shtml

The bottom line?  Treat your animals right and don't feel bad hoping that Michael Vick takes a serious beating on the Football field.

On a related note, for more on fellow dog lovers who aren't okay with letting that piece of crap (aka Michael Vick) off the hook, check out this article: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=%2Fg%2Fa%2F2009%2F11%2F03%2Fpetscol110309.DTL
